Shionogi is to pay around Yen 151bn ($1.05bn) for Japan Tobacco’s pharmaceutical operations, including listed subsidiary Torii Pharmaceutical, in what the mid-sized firm characterized as seeking access to the hospital sales sector in Japan. Shionogi will launch a 30-business day tender offer for shares in Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed Torii on 8 May 2025 at Yen 6,350 each, marking a premium of 21.4% over Torii’s 2 May closing price. .
