Deepwise Medical Completed Series C Financing, Fourth Financing in 2 Years

On June 10, 2019, a medical artificial intelligence company Deepwise just completed the Series C financing. This round of financing was led by Sunshine Insurance Group and followed by Changping Investment, SRHC and Sunland Fund. This is the fourth round of financing for Deepwise in just 2 years.

The predecessor of Deepwise is the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Project of Peking University. It became a company back in 2017, and it provides basic AI and Internet solutions for various medical institutions. At this moment, more than 400 hospitals are using Deepwise's AI services. These AI services will also be used in community hospitals in rural areas since many of these hospitals and clinics are lacking many resources compared to many big hospitals in the cities. 

This round of financing would be used to improve the research and development of AI services for the health care industry. Earlier, Deepwise completed 3 rounds of financing. In April 2017, completed 35 million RMB in Series A financing, in November 2017, completed 115 million RMB in Series A+ financing, on April 2, 2018, completed 150 million RMB in Series B financing.

In the last 2 years, Deepwise has launched 7 AI related products including tumor, breast, child growth and development, stroke, chest radiograph, image cloud and multimodal research platform. Deepwise now has around 200 employees, with researches accounting for 80%.

For product expansion, Deepwise mainly uses artificial intelligence products for various diseases with  high incidence rate in China. The two Deepwise's products correspond to lung cancer and breast cancer, respectively. Early diagnosis and early treatment can significantly reduce mortality rates. The other products from Deepwise can help doctors to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency of other diseases and child development problems.
