ByteDance Acquires Medical sciences Online Platform Baikemy

According to PEdaily.cn, ByteDance has completed its wholly-owned acquisition of medical sciences online platform Baikemy, and Yan Shou, who is in charge of strategic investment and game business of ByteDance, has become the legal representative of Baikemy.

Founded in May 2010, Baikemy focuses on the production and application of medical sciences content. The company is China's earliest and largest professional medical content and communication platform, and also the only designated website of "Authoritative Medical Science Popularization Project of National Health Commission".  Its management team is composed of experts in the fields of medical, Internet and health media from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Peking Union Medical College, Alibaba, Health-China, etc.

Baikemy has insisted on PGC (Professionals Generating Content), and formed more than one hundred professional medical teams, and cooperated with over ten thousand physicians to create a large number of high-quality, practical, structured, and systematic medical science content. 

Based on NLP, deep learning, knowledge map and other AI technologies, Baikemy has set up a library of medical science knowledge, covering diseases, drugs, treatments, nursing, rehabilitation, first aid & nutrition, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and other fields. The platform fundamentally solves the demand for obtaining reliable, practical health science knowledge conveniently.

There are similarities between Baikemy and "toutiaobaike.com", which ByteDance launched in late April, and there will be synergies between the two in the short term. ByteDance has already been able to integrate Baikemy with "toutiaobaike.com".
